Foodie Love

I'm not sure how the foodie in me has failed to mention this, but one of my favorite food resources this year has been Cooks Illustrated.

This amazing magazine has all the interesting facts and history behind recipes, tips & tricks (did you know you should use vodka in pie crust in addition to water because it helps the dough become more malleable?), illustrations, cooking equipment reviews, and taste tests.  It's just overall a really fantastic resource for great recipes & the science behind them.  At first I was leery of all the text and lack of big colored pictures, but the further I read the more this foodie fell in love.  <--- their site for some cool ideas :)

  2. I thought of you when I read that fact lol Yeah, unfortunately their site blocks some of the info but you can still see some of the food tests/comparisons. I guess it's to be used as a glimpse to see what the magazine is like.

  4. hehe well it burns off & the taste goes away apparently. I told my mom about it and now she wants to put our root beer vodka in one of her pie crusts. somehow i think that's not a good idea.
