Most wonderful time of the year

It usually really irritates me when stores play Christmas music or have wreaths & lights decorating every corner before Thanksgiving.  I've felt that Christmas as a holiday has become so commercialized & materialistic -- not what needs or is meant to be.

However, now that's it's practically Thanksgiving, I've felt more accepting of all this holiday jubilee.  Even though my Christmas tree is still in its box and none of our holiday music will make an appearance until at least Black Friday -- I am getting excited.

Mostly because I got this in the mail today...and I will be reading all 123 fun holiday recipes and 50 festive drinks tonight at work when I'm bored :)

I also can't help but be excited about S.tarbucks well advertised holiday drinks:
While I don't want to even fathom the calorie count -- they all sound so delicious.  Damn you S.tarbucks and your wonderful holiday red cup marketing abilities.

I've actually only had the peppermint mocha/hot chocolate -- any suggestions on any others that are good??

My outlook for this Christmas a month ago was very poor -- not being home in Atlanta with family and instead having to work got me really riled up; however, I think over the past few weeks I've softened and moved on to accept that this Christmas will be different with new Texas traditions.  Even though part of me shudders at the chance of an 80 degree Dec. 25 with neighbors in cowboy boots -- I know I'll be with my immediate family, will be blessed with a good meal, and we can always watch these..it's all about the little things in life.

  1. I agree! Let's give Thanksgiving a little bit of attention before we dive into Christmas for a month. Each should get a month - Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years (although its after instead of before. lol) Finally a Starbucks thing that includes hot chocolate! Yey! Our Christmas this year will be a lot different too. We usually spend it with my grandparents and two aunts and their families, but this year people are wanting to not travel so far since everyone traveled this summer. I can't complain too much since it was for me. lol But maybe we'll also make a new tradition and celebrate with Michael's family. I watched Elf yesterday! I was supposed to be studying. arg I need to catch up so bad which probably means studying over Thanksgiving - although I don't know how that's going to happen since I'm celebrating Thursday with Michael's family, Friday with mine, shopping Saturday, and driving Sunday. So hopefully I will have a very productive Wednesday. lol Wow - I am super sorry for this ridiculous comment. lol Miss you!!!

  2. starbucks tall non fat peppermint mocha with no whip = 210 calories. i did the research because i LOVE those haha - i also like the gingerbread latte :) 210 seems like a lot considering brewed coffee is about 5 calories. and a cappuccino is only 60. and this is where i stop rattling off starbucks calorie counts. i suppose if law school doesnt get me a job i could always be a barista...

i also need to go buy that magazine haha - i checked it the first time you mentioned it and it was amazing.
