We had a nice December full of good food, a visit from my grandparents, and lots of studying for my GMAT test for MBA school. I worked on Christmas day, which is something I would never suggest, but it's over and done with...and hopefully the last time it will ever have to happen. I got to see some old friends in town -- and even my sorority sister Jen!
My grandparents visited us from Atlanta for New Years. On Christmas Day it snowed in Atlanta which made it particularly difficult to be in Texas, but luckily my family was able to get out on time a week later. The recent snow storm over there has really paralyzed the city -- my cousins have had more days off of school than they had inches of snow!! Oh, how I love the South's reaction to winter weather.
We also had a lot of culinary inspiration of our own. We made our family calzone recipe (we call it forgots) -- it's a strange mixture of ricotta cheese, sausage, red pepper all wrapped in a sweet dough. Straight from my ancestors in Trivigno, Italy. It was a family event to make it and I loved every second of it.

Overall, we had a great time with my grandparents...I'm so thankful at 88 and 83 they can still travel on planes and are relatively healthy. I'm so blessed that they are such a big part of my life, and I can't wait to go back to Atlanta for 6 days in March for a late birthday celebration! I'm also kind of ticked that I'm now an Aquarias? I'm convinced they just switched everyone around for a zodiac publicity stunt. I feel bad for anyone with a tattoo of their sign!
I took my GMAT test this past Monday after months of prep and a Kaplan course. I did better than last time, but unfortunately still not as good as I wanted. I am just not built for these stupid logic tests. If I have to analyze assumptions anymore -- I might go crazy. I now can truly sympathize with anyone whose taken the LSAT or MCAT. I killed the writing section and was placed in the 91st percentile...so I hope that has some weight in the admissions process. I guess time will tell. I gave it my best shot!
On Monday I will have my sinus surgery at 7am. To say I'm nervous would be an understatement, but I'm looking forward to getting it all fixed. I should be back by lunch/mid afternoon and drugged up for the remainder of the week. I can't wait for January to be over!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a great start to the New Year!
Your blogs always make me so hungry! And makes me wish I cooked a lot more!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the grandparents! All 4 of mine are still alive and travel around. We always do so much with family - I love it!
I'll be praying for you girl on Monday! And good luck with the application process! I have total faith you'll find where you should be.
