I had my second post-op appointment today and my ENT said everything was looking good. I can finally sneeze and pretty much resume all activity. Good news is I don't have to go back for another 2 weeks -- bad news is it falls on Valentines Day. Nothing says love like having your sinuses suctioned out.
The highlight of my sick leave was probably cooking for my family and finishing all my grad school apps. I tried some awesome new recipes -- one of which was homemade empanadas from my favorite magazine, Cooks Illustrated. It was a tedious process but worth the time and effort. It had a very savory/sweet filling with ground beef, clove, raisins, green olives, etc on the inside. Sounds strange, but it was so good -- and the coolest part, my homemade dough had 1/2 cup of tequila -- apparently it makes it have a flakier crust. Who would have thought?

Something else I'm totally pumped about is this week's cold blast -- I looove cold weather and I love knowing it's coming! We actually have snow in the forecast for the Houston area for Friday. I have a feeling this might actually hold true which would a.) be amazing b.) create mass chaos c.) consume 95% of statuses on my facebook news feed
It's still pretty far out, but conditions are looking good for this to be the third year we see snow. How about that global warming Mr. Gore?

lol i love how the snow would consume your facebook status - i went to the grocery store in lubbock today and people were waiting in line for grocery carts because so many people were stocking up haha. craziness.
ReplyDeletethe empanadas sound super yummy - i've been stalking the cooks illustrated website every since you told me about it haha
