Celebrate!

If someone was to ask me what my favorite holiday in February is they'd probably expect to hear 'Valentines day'. Definitely not,...at least not yet. Then you'd say, 'ahh of course..she's one of those weird ones...Groundhogs Day'. NOPE...guess again. It's today - National Weatherpersons Day!

haha obviously this is not well-known and definitely not celebrated with gifts or extra holiday pay, but it is a day to remember and appreciate all the meteorologists that work around the clock to provide the public with semi-accurate (of course we're never right) forecasts for their daily activities...or to give forecasts when dangerous weather is coming (like the 2 ft of snow in DC this weekend!!) It actually commemorates John Jeffries birth in 1774. He was one of the first official weather observers in the country. Hmmm...had I seen or known about this my freshmen year of college I may have changed my major...I think he loses credibility with hat... ;)

All kidding aside...this day really has no significant impact on the weather community, but it is nice to have a national day.

Speaking of celebrations, last night a group of 15 or so went out to celebrate a coworkers 30th birthday. It was a lot of fun and in an area that they're trying to develop a 'new and hip' atmosphere for people to shop, eat, and drink. We went to a restaurant called the Y.ardhouse. A lot of fun!
And I'm also in a celebrating mood because I'm going back to ATL in March...I took a few days to add to my weekend so I'll get to see my family again and pick up where we left off at Christmas. I was planning to go to Boston to visit a friend, but I think that may have to wait until it's above 15 degrees. Better get ready for an afternoon shift...happy Wednesday...or in the real world,

Happy Friday!
