Christmas!
This is me and my 2 year old cousin Lily. She is the cutest thing ever and she's going to have a baby sister come February! Yay more family in Texas!
So now that Thanksgiving festivities are over, I feel like we've been thrown into Christmas. I loveee this time of year! I especially love that one station that plays continuous Christmas music (even though it's the same songs over and over)...I love the spirit people get into, decorations, those stupid sappy Liftetime and Hallmark movies, and everything else...including my peppermint mocha I got today from S.tarbucks! This year my favorite Christian author, K.aren K.ingsbury, has initiated a "30 day challenge" where she encourages everyone to say Merry Christmas to 3 strangers a day in attempt to have it said 500,000 times this season. What a great idea! It truly isn't said enough...especially with all this politically correct 'happy holidays' stuff that everyone follows.
I have been really on top of things this year and even have most of my shopping done! I'm slightly addicted to e.Bay & A.mazon! I got some really good deals on things from shopping online...now I just have to wait for them to be delivered...hopefully in once piece :)
In a short 20 days I will be leaving for Atlanta! I'm so excited to go back home. It will be a lot different this year since we can only be there for essentially 9 days, but that's honestly better than I was hoping given my, uh...interesting, job and schedule.
Like any typical Italian family, our lives are centered around food...especially during the holidays. We seriously wake up...at breakfast talk about what we're having for dinner, then shop for it, make it, eat it...then after dinner talk about what we're having for dinner the next day. I love it! haha Christmas is always a huge deal for us...we have beef wellington in puff pastry, twice baked potatoes, vegetables, fruit, and an assortment of desserts. Well, since this year I wasn't able to help prepare Thanksgiving dishes, my gracious mother has given me the honorable duty of preparing most of Christmas dinner (mostly b/c she doesn't want to stand in the kitchen all day..although I'm sure she'll be watching me like a hawk to make sure I don't mess up). We tried a new recipe for vegetables the other day that I found on another blog from B.arefoot. It was sooo good. Sliced up zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, and red potatoes...fanned out and baked then sprinkled with parmesan and back in the oven for 25 minutes. Here's the picture pre-parmesan. Isn't it so festive looking??
So a recap on life --
Thanksgiving was great! To my surprise I was let go early at work (after about 2 hours through the shift)...this allowed me to get home just in time for dinner and to see my cousins who were coming over. They were so surprised since I told them I had to work til 10 and wouldn't be seeing them. Thank you supervisor who has a heart!

And last, but not least...an update on my home grown plants. I'm sad to report that not all the seeds made it...but I have had great success with some onions, cilantro, and the most hearty, my pepper plants. I'm waiting for the peppers to bud...but look how far they've come over the last few months!
